The Bible teaches that we all have sinned against God. We are therefore not righteous and do not live as He has commanded us to. In fact, our sin is so serious that Jesus taught that we need a new birth (John 3), and that we need to be created again (1 Corinthians 15).
Our sins may not seem offensive or serious to us, but this makes them no less deadly for our relationship with God. Romans 6v3 says that “the wages of sin is death.” Sin destroys our relationship with God because God is Holy. He therefore cannot look at sin and must punish it.
If we carry on as we are then YES, that is it. But God has made a way that “though our sins may be as scarlet they shall be white as snow”. This was through Christ (God as man) taking on Himself the punishment for the sins of all those who would ever turn and trust in Him. God did this because He loves you.
Christ came and lived a perfect life on this earth and yet was crucified. Three days later He rose from the dead. In doing this He died for your sins. “The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him”. Our sins nailed Him to the cross, and “by His wounds we are healed.”
God now calls us to repent of our sins and to trust in Christ alone for our forgiveness. We are to turn to God and repent, so that our sins may be wiped out (Acts 3v19). If we repent of our sins and believe what Christ has done for us, we will be born again into a new life, an eternal life with God.
